Customer sues owners of New Orleans Winn-Dixie after slipping on floor

A New Orleans woman is suing a local grocery store after she allegedly slipped and hurt herself while shopping.

June Chambliss filed the lawsuit against Winn-Dixie Montgomery Inc. and Winn-Dixie Montgomery LLC on Oct. 5 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Chambliss says she was looking at plants for sale in the New Orleans store when she slipped and fell on some water that had collected on the floor. Chambliss believes the water was left after employees watered the live plants. She says she hurt her shoulder, knee and back in the fall.

Chambliss is suing the store for negligence, saying it should have removed the water from the floor or warned customers the floor was wet. She is seeking an unspecified amount for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorneys Patrick H Hufft and Susan L. Hufft of New Orleans are representing Chambliss.
