By Alejandro de los Rios | Oct 26, 2010

A fire alarm in Orleans Parish Civil District court briefly triggered a building-wide evacuation before people were told it was a false alarm.

An alarm on the third floor was triggered at around 3 p.m. CST but firefighters and engineers could not find the cause of the disturbance. There was no smoke or any other indication that there was a fire.

There were no active civil hearings at the time of the alarm. There are no reported injuries. Alarm strobes continued to flash a half hour after the automated public announcement system finished giving instructions to evacuate.
