A Louisiana seaman has filed a lawsuit against several companies for failing to provide a safe place to work and appropriate equipment after he suffered an injury to his right leg.
Scott Dees filed suit against Intermoor Inc., Tidewater Marine a/k/a Sonatide and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. a/k/a Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. on June 13 in federal court in New Orleans.
The alleged incident occurred on June 13, 2010 as Scott Dees was on board the M/V DU Moulin Tide and was struck by a wire cable on his right leg. Dees states the injury has resulted in permanent disability.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe place to work, failing to maintain the vessel in a reasonably fit condition, failing to provide appropriate and sufficient equipment and personnel to perform the task being performed, failing to provide proper supervision and training and failing to provide timely and appropriate cure.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for medical expenses, mental and emotional pain and suffering, loss of wages, impaired earning capacity, loss of life's enjoyment, permanent disability, attorney's fees and court costs.
Dees is represented by Houma attorney Christopher B. Siegrist.
U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan is assigned to the case.
