Wal-Mart sued after pregnant woman slips and falls

After slipping and falling while she was pregnant, a Louisiana resident has filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart for failing to properly clean its floors.

Linh Vo filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Sept. 27 in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 11, 2011 as Vo was a customer in a Covington Wal-Mart. She states she slipped in a foreign substance on the floor by the deli department and sustained injuries. At the time of the incident, Vo was pregnant.

The defendant is accused of negligence for allowing the substance on the deli area floor to remain present for a substantial amount of time prior to VO's injury, failing to place any warning signs in the area where the substance was located, failing to clean the substance on the floor, failing to warn Vo and others of the substance on the floor and for having actual knowledge of the substance and failing to clean it.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, anxiety, medical expenses, lost wages, attorney's fees, liquidated damages, costs and interest.

Vo is represented by New Orleans attorney Timothy R. Richardson. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt is assigned to the case.
