Home Depot sued after customer claims sign fell on his head

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a home improvement store for injuries he said he received as a patron on the premises.

Eric Taylor filed suit on Jan. 24 in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Home Depot U.S.A.

Taylor claims he was a customer at the Home Depot located at 12300 I-10 Service Road in New Orleans when an advertisement sign in the store fell on his head. He alleges the accident caused him to fall and receive serious injuries to his back and head.

Home Depot is accused of allowing a dangerous condition to exist and failing to repair it, not providing safe surroundings, not discharging duties of a property owner, placing the sign in a dangerous area and not warning the plaintiff of the danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is being sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and attendant care.

Taylor is being represented by attorney Christopher M. Rodriguez of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J.
