Standing Orleans Parish Traffic Judge Herbert Cade joins plaintiffs' firm

Judge Herbert A. Cade

NEW ORLEANS – Division "A" Traffic Court Judge Herbert A. Cade has joined New Orleans-based plaintiffs' firm Herman, Herman, Katz and Cotlar.

"Having both tried and presided over cases gives him a unique perspective and insight that others simply cannot provide," says HHK&C managing partner Steve Lane. "He offers invaluable trial experience from both sides of a case."

Cade has over 30 years experience as a litigator and judge. In 1987 Cade began his judiciary experience when he was appointed to 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. He also served nine years as an ad hoc judge in Orleans Parish Juvenile Court. Cade was also general counsel for the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority. After serving nine years as a civil district judge in Division "K" of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court, Cade was elected to Orleans Parish Traffic Court in October 2011.

As the first African American to serve on the Judiciary Commission for the state of Louisiana, Cade now serves as co-chairman of the New Orleans Bar Association's "Minorities in the Profession Committee" on the Louisiana State Bar Association's Committee on Professionalism and is a member of its subcommittee on mentoring. He is also on the executive board of the Louisiana Judicial Council Foundation/NBA.

A New Orleans native, Cade graduated from Saint Augustine High School, received his BA in Political Science from Louisiana State University at New Orleans (now University of New Orleans) and then earned his J.D. from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge in 1976.
