Contractor sued by client claiming home repair left unfinished

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a Jefferson Parish contractor for allegedly breaching a home repair contract.

Michael K. Carroll filed suit on Feb. 7 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Besselman Construction, Inc.

Carroll claims the defendants did not meet all of the conditions of their construction contract. The defendant is accused of failing to complete all aspects of the construction project, failing to repair or replace hardwood floors, failing to provide proof of purchase and warranty on building materials, failing to apply for energy rebates, failing to provide a credit for handrails on the front stairs that were not installed, failing to provide receipts on $30,000 worth of allowance items as in contract and failing to install trim on front of home.

Damages in the amount of $71,510.60 are sought by the plaintiff.

Carroll is being represented by Edward P. Gothard of Metairie-based Nowalksy, Bronston & Gothard.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
