GRETNA – A Georgia woman is suing a Harvey casino claiming she was injured on its premises.

Mary M. Smith filed suit on March 12 in 24th Judicial District Court against Louisiana-I Gaming.

Smith claims she was attempting to sit on her personal mobility scooter near a slot machine she was playing when a casino employee pushing a load of folding chairs ran into the scooter. The plaintiff alleges her scooter was damaged and she received injuries to her hip, knee and abdomen when some of the chairs fell on her. The injuries are described in the filing to be pain related. The defendant is accused of improperly maintaining the premises and improperly supervising employees.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for the plaintiffs' personal injuries.

Smith is being represented by Edwin M. Shorty of New Orleans-based Shorty, Dooley and Hall.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib, Jr.
