GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local restaurant for injuries she claims she received on the premises.

Linda Lewis filed suit on March 23 against Copeland's of New Orleans and its insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court. Lewis claims she was walking towards the revolving door at the entrance of the Copeland's at 1700 Lapalco Boulevard in Harvey when another patron stepped in front of her and she stepped back to make room when she tripped on uneven pavement and fell backwards hitting her head on the ground and her arm on a nearby cigarette canister.

The plaintiff alleges she was severely injured in the fall.

The defendants are accused of failing to maintain a safe premises, failing to train its employees, failing to warn patrons, reckless endangerment and indifference and assault.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical disability, pain and suffering, disruption of body tissue and cells and medical expenses.

Lewis is being represented by Jeffrey P. Green of Harvey-based Austin and Associates, LLP.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
