NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing city agencies for violations that may result in his home being demolished.

Hameed Shakir filed suit on April 16 against the City of New Orleans Office of Recovery Development and Code Enforcement Department in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Shakir claims his property located at 1468 Derbigny Street in New Orleans is not in violation of blight or public nuisance violations as found by a city Administrative Hearing Officer. The plaintiff claims the violations were negligently filed.

The plaintiff is asking that his property be saved from alienation, expropriation or demolition.

Shakir is being represented by Gregory S. Johnson of Mandeville.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
