New Orleans hotel sued over bathtub slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS - After slipping and falling in a hotel bathtub, a lawsuit has been filed against a New Orleans hotel claiming it failed to provide non-skid protection in the tub.

Terry Reeves filed suit against Decatur Hotels and Wausau Insurance Co. on April 26 in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged incident occurred on April 30, 2011 while Reeves was a guest of the Historic Cotton Exchange Hotel located on Magazine Street in New Orleans. She states that she fractured her right arm when she slipped in a hotel bathtub. The bathroom did not have a non-skid mat and the bathtub did not contain non-skid protection, the lawsuit states.

Reeves states that the accident was the result of the defective condition of the hotel's premises.

The plaintiff is asking for $500,000 in damages, plus interest and court costs.

Reeves is represented by Metairie attorney Charles W. Dittmer Jr.
