Vendor sues New Orleans boat show for injuries

George P. Vourvoulias, III

NEW ORLEANS – A Michigan man is suing a New Orleans-based boat show for injuries he claims to have received as a vendor during the exposition.

Thomas E. Campbell filed suit against The Boat Show, Inc., The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District and their insurers in the New Orleans Civil District Court on June 6. Campbell claims he was a vendor at the boat show on Feb. 2, when he was injured. The filing makes no statement of how Campbell alleges he was injured.

The defendants are accused of failing to take ordinary care in operating heavy machinery, failing to take appropriate measures to prevent accident or injury, failing to provide a safe and hazard free environment for its exhibitors or vendors, failing to properly train employees and violating state laws.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of consortium, loss of love and affection, hedonic damages and loss of life's pleasures, lost wages and income and loss of household services.

Campbell is represented by George P. Vourvoulias, III of New Orleans-based Harmon, Smith and Vourvoulias Law Firm, LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.

Case number 2012-05575.
