DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish man is suing an Orleans Parish bloodmobile operator for injuries he claims occurred in one of its units.
Sean Adams filed suit against the Blood Center in the 23rd Judicial District Court on June 21. Adams claims he had just given blood in one of the bloodmobiles in the parking lot of the Gonzales Wal-Mart when he complained of feeling light-headed. The plaintiff alleges that the chair was declined at a 45 degree angle before the technician suddenly and without warning dropped it causing the plaintiff to fall violently backward and receive injuries to his spine.
The defendant is accused of failing to exercise due caution, improper operation of donor station, use of defective donor station, failing to warn plaintiff before adjusting the incline of the donor station, failing to exercise the proper degree of care and failing to properly train the technician.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and potential for permanent disability.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Ralph Tureau.
