Dollar General sued by woman who claims she slipped on dishwashing soap and fell in store

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a discount retailer claiming she was injured in a fall on the premises at one of their local stores.

Tyshawna Johnson filed suit against Dolgencorp, LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 30. Johnson claims she was walking in the store located at 903 Gretna Blvd. in Gretna when she stepped in dishwashing soap in the aisle and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she injured her lower back and neck in the fall.

The defendant is accused of having knowledge of the danger, failing to keep the aisle in a reasonably safe condition, failing to keep the premises free of hazards, lack of proper inspection, lack of proper policy to maintain the store in a reasonably safe condition and failing to place warning signs.

An amount in exceeding $50,000 is sought for medical expenses, fright, fear, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of one's life and loss of earnings.

Johnson is represented by Jonathan P. Friedman of New Orleans-based Silbert & Garon, LLP.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.
