BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge retailer is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured in a fall on their premises.

Stacy Ann Jones filed suit against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC in the 19th Judicial District Court on July 31. Jones claims she was a customer at the Wal-Mart located at 9350 Cortana Place in Baton Rouge when she slipped and fell in water that had accumulated on the store's floor. The plaintiff alleges she suffered serious injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of causing or allowing allowing standing water on the floor, failing to provide a safe walkway, failing to have an adequate inspection and clean-up procedure, failing to warn and allowing an unreasonable dangerous condition to exist.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and travel expenses.

Jones is represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney Scott T. Gegenheimer.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Wilson Fields.
