Illinois woman sues New Orleans Hotel for an alleged slip and fall accident

NEW ORLEANS - A Washington Park, Ill. woman is suing a local hotel alleging she slipped and fell in the bathtub in her hotel room and suffered injuries as a result.

Vera Mae Stewart filed a lawsuit against Chateau Bourbon Wyndham Hotel in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 3. Stewart claims that while on her stay at the defendant's establishment she fell in the bath in her room which, she alleges, had a non-slip tub, no grab bars, and no rubber mat. As a result of the fall, Stewart claims she sustained injury to her lower back.

The defendant is accused of failure to take any action to avoid the accident and all other acts of negligence that should be revealed at the time of the trial.

Stewart is seeking $100,000 for personal injury and recompense to her insurance company for all medical treatment.

The plaintiff is representing herself.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Lloyd J. Medley.

Case no. 2012-07609.
