Contractor suing customer for non-payment

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish contractor is suing one of its customers for withholding payment for work completed.

Fisher and Fisher Home Improvements, LLC filed suit against Kiondra G. Ruffin and Standard Mortgage Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 23. Fisher and Fisher Home Improvements claims it provided construction renovations and repair work at Ruffin's home located at 3724 Dulaney Dr. in Harvey. The plaintiffs allege three payments in the amount of $27,897.48 each were supposed to be made to the plaintiff, but only two of those payments were made.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $27,897.48 plus legal interest and 25 percent in attorney's fees is sought by the plaintiff.

Fisher and Fisher Home Improvements, LLC is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Gilbert E. Stampley.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner.
