NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany man is suing joint public transportation corporations for alleged negligence resulting in him sustaining serious injuries.

Henry J. Castagnetta filed a lawsuit against Colonial Trailway's, Inc., Greyhound Lines, Inc., ABC Insurance Company and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 10. The plaintiff alleges that a driver for the defendant's corporation failed to properly align the bus exit with the curb and place portable steps for patron assistance causing him to fall and twist both of his ankles and injuring both of his hands and wrist upon exiting the bus during a stop for a 10-minute delay.

The defendant is accused of failing to pull the bus closer to the curb, failing to put out portable steps or other devices to facilitate patrons exiting the bus, and failing to warn.

An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including pain and suffering, lost earnings, and medical expenses.

Castagnetta is represented by A. Scott Tillery of Tillery & Tillery.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin, Chief Judge.

Case no. 2012-07914.
