NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish resident is suing a home elevation company and its owner for alleged breach of contract.

Elizabeth Orphey filed a lawsuit against Professional Shoring Elevations, LLC and its owner and operator, Ernest Blackwell in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 14. Orphey claims she incurred financial and emotional damages and damage to her property during the course of her contract with the defendants. The plaintiff noted within the court brief several alleged instances of unprofessional behavior of the defendants in regards to unanswered/unreturned phone calls, delays in providing service and misappropriating funds paid by Orphey.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract, violation of unfair trade practices, fraud, professional negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including, but not solely, pain and suffering, rescission of the contract, inconvenience and attorney's fees.

The plaintiff is representing herself.

This case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
