GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing a regional energy provider and a city government for injuries he allegedly sustained in a biking incident involving the property of both entities.
Oscar Blunt filed suit against Entergy Louisiana, LLC and the City of Gretna in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 28. Blunt claims he was riding his bicycle along a sidewalk next to Hancock Street when he ran into a guy wire securing an electric pole to the ground. The plaintiff alleges that the wire was unmarked and low-lying and that when he ran into it he was thrown to the ground. Blunt asserts that he received serious injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of unreasonably dangerous use of the area, not placing warning signs, having notice of the hazard, recognizing the danger presented by removing the guy wire after the incident.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain, suffering, anxiety, upset, distress, depression, mental anguish and property damages to the plaintiff's bicycle.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
