GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish couple are suing a number of defendants over injuries their son allegedly received near a construction zone.
Christina Baker and Alvin Lopez, individually and on behalf of their minor child, filed suit against Cityview Gates on Manhattan, LLC, W.H. Bass, Inc., Chick-Fil-A and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 18. Baker and Lopez claim their son cut his leg on razor wire that was in the parking lot of the apartment building. The plaintiffs allege that the razor wire was in a dangerous space because of ongoing construction on a future Chick-Fil-A site adjacent to the apartment complex.
The defendant is accused of recklessly allowing employees to place a razor wire section of fence next to a dumpster, failing to see what should have been seen, knowingly creating a dangerous hazard when it placed a tangle of razor wire in a well-traveled area and failing to exercise reasonable care and good judgement.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and property damage.
Baker and Lopez are represented by New Orleans-based attorney Kevin J. Katner.
The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan.
Case no. 720-291.
