GRETNA – A Transportation Security Administration worker at the Louis Armstrong International Airport is suing the city and aviation board for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on the airport's premises.
Kathleen Werner filed suit against the City of New Orleans, Aviation Board and ACE North American Claims in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 17. Werner claims that she was walking from a shuttle bus towards her car in the parking lot at the airport when she tripped on an drainage gate. The plaintiff alleges that she broke her shoulder in the fall. The plaintiff asserts that in the area where she tripped drainage and lighting conditions were inadequately maintained and that a functioning emergency response system was not located in the area of the incident.
The defendant is accused of negligent maintenance and inadequate lighting.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical therapy, loss of earnings over the four month recovery period, loss of enjoyment of life, all court costs and compensatory damages.
