NOPD sued over involvement in I-10 collision

NEW ORLEANS – An New Orleans man is suing the NOPD and one of its officers over  an interstate collision involving.

Earl Muse filed a lawsuit against the City of New Orleans Police Department and Brandon Williams in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Nov. 9. Muse claims that a NOPD vehicle driven by Williams was at a complete stop in a travel lane on I-10 without any type of cautionary light signals or warning cones to alert interstate travelers of his stopped vehicle.

The defendant is accused of stopping in a travel lane, blocking an interstate highway and failure to put out appropriate flares and or warning cones or lights to advise approaching traffic of his vehicle.

An unspecified amount is sought for pain and suffering, lost earning capacity and medical expenses.

The plaintiff is represented by Mark W. Smith of Mark W. Smith, APLC.

This case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2012-10404.
