Kenner Target sued by woman who claims she slipped in lotion

GRETNA –  A New Orleans woman is suing a national retailer for injuries she claims to have received in an incident at a Kenner store.

Keyasha M. Lawrence filed suit against Target Corporation, Target Corporation of Minnesota and ACE American Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 11.

Lawrence claims she was walking down a main aisle between merchandise and checkout registers and slipped on lotion and fell to the floor. The plaintiff claims she was seriously injured in the incident including to various parts of her back, bulging discs, knees, calves, ankles and feet.

The defendant is accused of failing to hire competent staff, failing to properly maintain its store, failing to exercise reasonable care, failing to keep walkways safe and failing to keep a proper degree of care and caution.

Damages not to exceed $75,000 are sought for loss of wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, inconvenience, humiliation, frustration, restriction of activity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Lawrence is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ford T. Hardy.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen J. Windhorst.
