Hazardous materials testing company claims public school work went unpaid

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish hazardous materials testing company is suing a state contractor for work it claims it provided to public schools in New Orleans.

AIMS Group Inc. filed suit against Lambert Engineers LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 15.

The plaintiff alleges it tested Mildred C. Osborne Elementary School, Wilson Elementary Cottage and Thomy Lafon Elementary School for the presence of asbestos and lead-based paint as well as other toxic materials. AIMS Group Inc. asserts it provided a demand letter for the payment, but Lambert Engineers did not respond.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $23,929 plus 18 percent from date of demand is sought by the plaintiff.

AIMS Group Inc. is represented by in-house attorney W.J. LeBalanc of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
