GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing the state government for injuries she claims to have received in a fall at a state park.

Donna Marie Graham filed suit against the State of Louisiana, Department of Culture, and Recreation and Tourism and Office of State Parks in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 20.

Graham claims that when she was visiting Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego on June 10, 2012 she entered a public restroom, slipped in a puddle of water and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she received permanent injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to regularly maintain and inspect the bathroom area on the property, failing to timely inspect and repair the bathroom floor area, failing to warn of the danger and allowing a dangerous condition to exist after proper or constructive notice.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent damage, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and economic damages.

Graham is represented by Gretna-based attorney Pierre F. Gaudin.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.

Case no. 724-089.
