NEW ORLEANS – A St. Bernard Parish woman is suing a local hospital claiming she was severely injured on the premises.

Denise B. Spencer filed a lawsuit against University Healthcare System, Tulane University and Clinic and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court.

Spencer claims that while visiting a relative who was a patient at the defendant’s facility she slipped on a wet floor and sustained bodily injury.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of an existing dangerous condition, failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe manner and violating the high duty of care owed to others.

An unspecified amount is sought for emotional pain and suffering, medical expenses, permanent disability, diminution of earning capacity, economic loss and past wages.

The plaintiff is represented by Timothy F. Upton of Covington-based The Upton Law Firm LLC.

This case has been assigned to Division D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.
