State Farm sues construction company over home damaged during elevation

GRETNA – An insurance company is suing a home elevation company that allegedly dropped a home during its elevation and severely damaged it.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company filed suit against Roubion Construction Company LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 2.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company claims it provided property insurance for Bonnie Barker who contracted Roubion Construction Company to elevate their home located at 645 Morningside Drive in Gretna. The plaintiff alleges that Barker’s home shifted and fell backwards during the elevation, resulting in severe damages. State Farm Fire and Casualty Company asserts that Roubion Construction Company owes $32,115.07 for the home’s damages.

The defendant is accused of neglect and refusal for reimbursement.

Damages in the amount of $32,115.07 plus legal interest and costs of the proceedings are sought by the plaintiffs.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company is represented by Baton Rouge-based W. Ransom Pipes of Hannah, Colvin & Pipes.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.
