New Orleans homeowner suing home elevation company for breach of contract

Shoring

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a home elevation company and its insurer for alleged breach of contract claiming they took five months to complete the elevation of her home and that the result was unacceptable.

Patricia Rhem filed suit against Davie Shoring Inc., New Beginnings Enterprises LLC and their insurer in Orleans Parish Central District Court on May 21.

Rhem claims she entered into a contract with Davie Shoring Inc. in August 2012 for house elevation on 1600 Filmore Ave. in the sum of $152,991. The elevation allegedly took five months to complete and was finished in January 2013.

Rhem accuses Davie Shoring of performing work that was of substandard quality, claiming that it was not completed at accepted construction standards.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of use of property and mental and emotional distress.

The plaintiff is represented by Steven M. Koenig of the New Orleans-based Valteau, Harris, Koenig & Mayer.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael J. Bagneris.

Case no. 2013-04800.
