GRETNA – An airboat operator who was ejected from his employer’s airboat when he flipped it is suing for injuries he claims to have received in the incident.

Monty Meyers filed suit against Bayou Boys Airboats LLC and Russell Easley in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 28.

Meyers claims that he was an employee of Bayou Boys Airboats and was operating one of its boats on May 25, 2010 when it suddenly flipped and he was ejected into a marsh. The plaintiff alleges in the incident he received severe and permanent injuries causing great suffering to his body and mind.

The defendant is accused of allowing the operation of an unseaworthy vessel.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for lost wages, medical expenses, lost fringe benefits, pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss physical function, loss of ability to enjoy life, loss of ability to pursue happiness, inconvenience and embarrassment.

Meyers is represented by attorney Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
