GRETNA – The City of Kenner is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured when she tripped on a piece of rebar that was sticking out of a parking bumper at a city playground.
Monica Anderson filed suit against the City of Kenner, the Parish of Jefferson and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 24.
Anderson claims she was walking in the Galatas Playground in Kenner on Sept. 24 when she tripped on a piece of rebar sticking out of a concrete parking bumper and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges the piece of rebar was not marked in any way. Anderson asserts she received serious injuries in the fall.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the parking area, failing to post warning of the embedded protruding rebar spike and failing to act with required degree of care.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for orthopedic and neurological damages, physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses and loss of earning capacity.
Anderson is represented by Thomas C. Cerullo of the Metairie-based the Law Firm of Thomas C. Cerullo APLC.
The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
