GRETNA – A local homeowner is suing a contractor they claim did not properly complete all aspects of a home elevation job.
Joan Chamberlain filed suit against Patterson Structural Moving and Shoring LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 9.
Chamberlain claims she entered into a contract with Patterson Structural Moving and Shoring on Sept. 21, 2012, to lift her Jefferson Parish home.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to elevate her driveway, failed to provide proper landscaping, completed work with poor worksmanship in the concrete landing, not sloping the back porch correctly and improperly installing pipe on the roof that led to sheetrock damage. Chamberlain also asserts the heart pipe and front concrete steps are not up to code.
The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to complete the project in a reasonable amount of time and that 13 months after beginning the project it was still not done.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for repairs, attorney’s fees and court costs.
Chamberlain is represented by attorney Max M. Chotto of Gretna.
The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
Case no. 733-655.
