Law firm sues clients for $33K for not paying daughter’s legal fees

GRETNA – A couple is being sued by a local law firm for allegedly not paying for legal fees owed by their daughter and her husband through their businesses.

Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann LLC filed suit against Ronald James Evans and Aurora Patricia Evans in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 3.

Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann alleges it provided legal defense for the Evanses after they provided a guaranty agreement for Royal Vets LLC, Royal Citrus LLC and Juliet Interiors LLC, which are all owned by their daughter Julie G. Pritchett and her husband Shane Pritchett. The plaintiff claims the defendants entered in the guaranty agreement, binding themselves to companies owned by the Pritchetts, after the Pritchetts failed to pay their legal defense fees in the amount of $33,903.46. Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann claims when the Evanses signed the guaranty agreement on Dec. 18, 2009 they waived certain rights regarding collection of the debt.

The plaintiff claims that on June 2, 2011 it withdrew from representing the Pritchetts due to non-communication and that at that time they requested payment for the amount owed from the Evanses of which they have not yet received payment.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $33,903.46 plus attorney’s fees and legal costs are sought.

Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann is represented by in-house attorney Matthew S. Almon.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

Case no. 734-287.
