NEW ORLEANS – A suit has been filed against the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans claiming an employee committed a hit-and-run.

Yamamoto Mitchell filed suit against Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 10.

The plaintiff claims to have been traveling down St. Bernard Avenue in New Orleans when an employee driving a vehicle owned by the defendant rear-ended the plaintiff.  The defendant’s vehicle allegedly then fled the scene without consideration for the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of failing to consider the safety of others, failing to use proper vigilance and judgment and negligence in following too closely to a vehicle.

The plaintiff is seeking an unknown amount in damages for mental anguish, medical expenses, physical pain and suffering and property damage.

Mitchell is represented by Louis A. Gerdes Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
