Labor employment law 2013 imec

NEW ORLEANS – An employee has filed suit against his former employer for allegedly violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to properly compensate him for overtime hours.

Arthur Baptiste filed suit against Global Staffing Solutions in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The plaintiff claims that while employed by the defendant for three years he worked more than 40 hours per week on numerous occasions without being properly compensated under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The plaintiff asserts he was not paid “time and a half” for his overtime hours while employed by the defendant. The plaintiff claims the defendant pursued a policy of not paying the plaintiff proper overtime amounts.

The defendant is accused of knowingly disregarding the Fair Labor Standards Act by denying the plaintiff “time and a half” compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff is seeking an unknown amount in damages for overtime wages worked in excess of 40 hours per week, an equal amount of liquidated damages and attorney’s fees.

Arthur Baptiste is represented by attorney Jeffrey T. Greenberg based in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV
