GRETNA – The mother of a boy whose leg was allegedly shattered in a fall is suing the property owner where the incident occurred.
Danielle Veal, individually and as the tutrix of her minor son, filed suit against Gilda Johnson and Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 21.
Veal alleges that on Sept. 19, 2013 her son was visiting Veal’s home located at 1022 Wyndham St. in Gretna when he slipped on ice and fell to the floor. The plaintiff claims her son severely shattered his left knee and injured his leg in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to institute inspection procedures for foreign substances on her floor, failing to clean ice from the floor and failing to warn that ice was located on the floor.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, emotional stress and pain, permanent residual disability, loss of enjoyment of life and mental anguish.
Veal is represented by attorney Darleen M. Jacobs of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
