Rouse’s sued by customer who claims she was injured in fall over rug

GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured in a fall on its premises.

Doris C. Lambert filed suit against Rouse’s Enterprises LLC and Evanston Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 4.

Lambert alleges that on Aug. 13, 2013 she was shopping at the Rouse’s supermarket located at 717 Clearview Parkway in Metairie when she tripped and fell on a rug in the sales area. The plaintiff asserts that she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly inspect the area, failing to timely inspect the sales floor, failing to warn of dangers, creating dangerous conditions, creating and maintaining an unreasonable risk of harm and allowing a danger to exist.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent damage, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and economic damages.

Lambert is represented by attorney Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.

Case no. 740-956.
