Kenner Police Department sued over car accident allegedly caused by police officer in pursuit of vehicle

GRETNA – The Kenner Police Department is being sued by three plaintiffs who claim they were injured after their vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by a police officer.

Corin Henderson, Corielle Brown and Latishia Mason filed suit against The City of Kenner, Louisiana; The Kenner Police Department and an unknown police officer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 1.

Henderson, Brown and Mason allege that on Oct. 1, 2013 they were driving back from a school event and were on Airline Highway near the Louis Armstrong International Airport when their vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by a Kenner police officer. The plaintiffs contend that the defendant’s vehicle was in pursuit of another vehicle at the time of the accident. Henderson, Brown and Mason assert that they received serve injuries due to the accident.

The defendant is accused of failing to use reasonable vigilance, failing to maintain a proper lookout, failure to yield and careless and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

An unspecified amount in damages personal injuries.

The plaintiff are represented by Edwin M. Shorty of New Orleans-based Edwin M. Shorty Jr. & Associates, A Professional Law Corporation.

The case has been assigned to Division Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.
