GRETNA – A man who was allegedly injured after walking into a pole is suing the bank where the incident occurred.

Annan Husein filed suit against Hancock Holding Company, Whitney national Bank and Great Northern Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 16, 2014.

Husein claims that on Nov. 15, 2013 he was a customer at the Whitney National Bank located at 2100 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna and was walking to his vehicle parked adjacent to the bank when he walked into a pole on the sidewalk next to the entrance. The plaintiff alleges that there was no lighting provided in the parking lot, which created a dangerous condition.

The defendant is accused of creating and failing to remedy a hazard, failing to warn of a danger, failing to have adequate lighting, failing to post warning signs and causing injuries.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses.

Husein is represented by attorney Morris H. Hyman of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 743-437.
