French Quarter hotel injures tourists after mirror shatters, suit says

NEW ORLEANS – An Arizona couple visiting New Orleans in March 2014 have filed suit against the Bienville House Hotel after a mirror allegedly fell from the wall and shattered, injuring them.

Jessica Gourley, and husband Adrian, filed suit against New Hotel Monteleone LLC and American Guarantee and Liability Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Dec. 5, 2014.

Jessica Gourley claims that she was changing in her hotel room at the Bienville House Hotel on March 11, 2014, when suddenly and unexpectedly, the mirror hanging on the bathroom door fell and shattered, causing personal injuries to the plaintiff. She is accusing the defendants of negligence, failing to check the hotel mirrors and failing to inspect the business premises.

The plaintiff seeks an unspecified amount in damages for both mental and physical pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff is represented by Mark R. Wolfe, Michael J. Begoun, T. Daniel Pick, Nancy S. Silbert and Michael S. Finkelstein of New Orleans-based Wolfe, Begoun & Pick LLC.

This case has been assigned to Div. G Judge Robin M. Giarusso
