GRETNA – A rent to own company is being sued by a former employee who claims the company refused to provide him with his final paycheck.

Jamal Lee filed suit against JDM Management Inc. and Colortyme Inc./Rim Tyme in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 7.

Lee asserts he was hired by the defendants on May 10, 2014 as an installer and paid $9.50 an hour. The plaintiff claims that on May 31, 2014, he contacted Colortyme Inc./Rim Tyme to notify them he would be late to work and they fired him. Lee alleges upon being notified of his termination he turned in five pairs of uniforms and requested his wages for the week after which he was advised he would be paid on the upcoming scheduled pay day. Later, he he was told he would have to pay $50 for missing works uniforms if he wanted to be paid.

The defendant is accused of violation of state law and bad faith.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for full payment and attorney’s fees.

Lee is represented by attorney Willard J. Brown of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
