GRETNA – A gas station is being sued by a man who claims he was injured when a gasoline hose ruptured and sprayed gas into his eye.
Edward Sherman filed suit against Brothers Belle Chasse LLC and Exxon Mobil Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 23.
Sherman claims that in August 2014 he was a pumping gas into his vehicle at the Brothers gas station located at 1944 Belle Chasse Highway in Terrytown when the gasoline pump hose ruptured and sprayed gasoline onto him. The plaintiff alleges he received bodily injuries in the incident, including to his left eye.
The defendant is accused of failing to correct a hazard, creating a dangerous condition, failing to adequately inspect and failing to warn customers.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, scarring, disfigurement and loss of vision.
Sherman is represented by attorney William E. Mura Jr. of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
