Beevers & Beevers law firm sues divorce client for alleged non-payment

GRETNA – A Gretna-based law firm is suing a client who hired the firm to represent him a in a divorce after he allegedly failed to fully pay.

Beevers & Beevers LLP filed suit against James M. Jackson in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 12.

Beevers & Beevers asserts that on Dec. 14, 2009 Jackson retained the firm as legal counsel in divorce proceedings. The plaintiff claims the defendant agreed to pay $250 per hour for attorneys and $125 per hour for law clerks to work on his case. Beevers & Beevers alleges that despite requests, Jackson has refused to fully pay.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $2,107.79 is sought by the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
