AT&T Louisiana files suit after facilities allegedly damaged by defective sprinkler system

Newattstore

NEW ORLEANS – AT&T Louisiana claims a defective sprinkler system resulted in their facilities sustaining water damage.

Bellsouth Telecommunications LLC and AT&T Louisiana filed suit against Orleans Tower LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on April 1.

The plaintiff, AT&T, was leasing property from the defendant, Orleans Tower, at 1340 Poydras Street in New Orleans. On April 14, 2014, AT&T claims their facilities suffered damage after a sprinkler system unexpectedly detonated, allegedly resulting in severe damage to its “above-ground cable(s).”

AT&T further contends the sprinkler system had been abruptly set off on more than one occasion. As such, the petitioner argues the defendant should have taken immediate action to remedy the defective sprinkler system. As a result of the incident, AT&T was allegedly unable to provide vital services to their customers, failing to deliver an uninterrupted cable feed.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly install a new sprinkler system, correctly maintain a non-defective sprinkler system, repair the defective sprinkler system, and examine the defective sprinkler system.

The petitioner is represented by Michael B. Alker and Charles E. Sutton Jr. of Sutton, Alker & Rather LLC.

The case has been assigned to Div. A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2015-03039.
