Dillard’s sued by woman who tripped over table leg

Tripfall

GRETNA – A local department store is being sued by a woman who claims it is responsible for her injuries in a trip and fall over a table leg.

Nancy Lester filed suit against Dillard Department Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 19.

Lester claims that on June 25, 2014 she was visiting the Dillard Department Store located in Lakeside Mall in Metairie to buy makeup. The plaintiff alleges that as she was walking to the makeup department she passed several display tables that were covered by black cloth. Lester contends one of those tables legs stuck out but she did not see it as it was obscured and tripped over it, falling to the floor.

The plaintiff asserts she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of creating a hazardous condition and failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain, mental anguish, physical disability, medical expenses, lost income and loss of earning capacity.

Lester is represented by Richard T. Gallagher of Metairie-based Gallagher Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge

Case no. 750-810.
