Lakeside Mall sued over alleged injury from slip in fall in soda

GRETNA – A local shopping mall is being sued by a patron who claims he was was injured in a slip and fall in a soda spilled in their food court.

Andrew Flatley filed suit against Broadway management Corporation, Lakeside Shopping Center, Greater Lakeside Corporation and Federal Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 19.

Flatley claims on June 21, 2014 he was shopping at Lakeside Shopping Center located at 3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when he slipped in a soft drink spilled in the food court and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges he was violently thrown to the ground in the incident and suffered injuries as a result.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe place, failing to warn of an unsafe condition and failing to properly clean up a spill.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering and residual disability.

Flatley is represented by attorney Tim L. Fields of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
