Developers of an affordable housing development in Algiers are suing a Louisiana land surveying company, alleging negligence and breach of contract.
Maumas Partners, SA Affordable Housing and Sunamerica Housing Fund 1534 filed a lawsuit June 5 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against Richmond W. Krebs and R.W. Krebs, alleging negligence and breach of contract for what they say was a poorly performed land survey.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs hired the defendants to perform a land title survey for a new development being built in Algiers, which was performed July 30, 2008. After the homes were constructed, the defendants were hired to perform a second survey, which was conducted Dec. 16, 2011, the suit says.
In April 2015, Dading Marques Surveyors were hired to perform an updated survey on the land, according to the suit. Dading found the original surveys caused construction to take place 25 feet east of the intended position, costing the plaintiffs more than $75,000 in damages.
The plaintiffs seek the damages specified above, litigation costs and any further relief deemed suitable by the court. They are represented by attorney C. Davin Boldissar of Locke Lord in New Orleans.
