NEW ORLEANS – The maritime vessel Aris T is facing a lawsuit after a collision.
Motiva Enterprises LLC filed a lawsuit on Feb. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Aris T, Marmaras Navigation LTD, Aris T. Ene, and XYZ crew employer for alleged acts of negligence and unsafe operations.
The plaintiff claims that on or about Jan. 31, the Aris T was navigating on the Mississippi River around mile marker 125 when it suddenly maneuvered itself in a direct collision with plaintiff’s Norco facility. This collision allegedly caused extensive damages that the plaintiff alleges will require costly repairs in excess of $50 million. The plaintiff attests that the Aris T failed to take proper actions to avoid an allision, failed to properly navigate the waters and failed to maintain its equipment.
The plaintiff is requesting the court to issue an arrest warrant for Aris T and those claiming an interest on the vessel to answer the allegations against it, the sale of the Aris T, interests, court cost and attorney fees, and any further rewards deemed just by the court. It is represented by Thomas P. Diaz, Brett D. Wise, Raymond T. Waid and Devin C. Reid from Liskow & Lewis in New Orleans.
