Slip01

GRETNA – An Orleans woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she claims that she was caused to slip and fall on a wet surface.

Laquita Thompson filed a suit against Weber Property Group LLC and The Travelers Indemnity Co. of Connecticut in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 12.

According to the claim, Thompson was in the hallway of a building located at 3841 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie that was owned by Weber Property Group LLC on May 13, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that Thompson encountered a wet portion of ground which was caused by a leaking air conditioner and that allegedly caused her to slip and fall. The fall purportedly resulted in damages to Thompson’s right knee and contusion and acute lumbosacral strain.

The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to repair the air conditioner, failing to warn of the wet ground and failing to provide adequate lighting to display the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Darleen M. Jacobs, Rene Lovelace and Michael J. Laborde in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
