NEW ORLEANS — A service field technician is suing offshore drilling companies, alleging their negligence caused him to be injured.

Glen Guidry filed a lawsuit May 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, against Nobel Drilling Services Inc., Noble Drilling Exploration Co. and Noble Drilling (US) LLC, alleging negligence in failing to provide a safe and seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, on May 11, 2015, while in the course of his employment on the vessel Noble Bully I drill ship, Guidry severely injured his back when he slipped and fell on mud which has accumulated on the vessel's deck.

The suit says Guidry has suffered and will continue to suffer physical pain, mental anguish, loss of wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly maintain and clean the vessel's deck, failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work, failed to provide proper safety precautions, failed to require proper safety equipment and failed to provide adequate crew or assistance.

Guidry seeks a trial by jury and judgment of $3 million, plus costs and legal interest. He is represented by attorney Errol L. Cormier of Lafayette.
